These types of gear get less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade items the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.
You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current it is recommended you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.
Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item, but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from another player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase weapons, armor, tools, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will show a preview of an item level upgrade's next upgrade level if there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and the current item level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Many locations have upgraders for their items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and the chance to obtain an entirely new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.
Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. Instead, the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades are acquired via a variety of means, which is both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, several new features were added to the upgrade system. When a player has an upgrade item to a certain level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading further items to that level will be less expensive, even in the event that they belong to a different gear set.
The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade is reduced and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievement.
Crests
Players have several options when it comes to upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific Item level Upgrade level upgrades. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.
First, you must be aware that Crests are only available to gear of a certain rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The most basic and straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the more complex one may require as many as 20 crests depending on the kind of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing content at the appropriate level. This could mean doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulty levels to obtain equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons that have a high difficulty for endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to obtain the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it brings some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when a piece of equipment reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.
Another notable modification is that crests have one use and it's crucial to use them wisely. For instance it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the Best item upgrade gear you have available and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you plan on making. This is especially true for items such as trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The discount on the account will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
