WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades will give you a boosts in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases item level by 3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.
The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for the latter because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of armor or weapons. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.
The upgrader is located in all major cities, and is accessible anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.
Upgrades will cost more depending on the item upgrade level, but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new gear. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while purchasing the same item from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items which can be used to improve the quality of weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players from NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. button, which will display an item's preview at the next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.
The upgrade cost depends on the item level upgrade (Additional Info) slot and the current level of the item, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for example. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.
Item upgraders can be found in a variety of locations including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded. It is also possible to be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.
Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items at the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are only accessible via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit and a disadvantage.
In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. After a player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This applies even if those items are from an entirely different set of gear.
The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced as well, but is only available when certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
Players have a variety of choices when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone who wants to upgrade. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be used to purchase equipment that is of a particular rank, and every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade route costs 15 crests while the more complex one may require as many as 20 crests based on the kind of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests through completing content of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities to get lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons to obtain endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, like Cuzolth in Dornogal or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
Utilizing these new currencies isn't that difficult however, the system will introduce a few modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest level possible on all their characters, instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

It's Best item upgrader to put your Whelpling-rank Crests on the best gear you can find, and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly true for items like rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to benefit from the discount for all accounts when all slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
