Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric statistics on armor, weapons and rings. They also boost extra bonuses, such as damage from PvE and crit chance.
For example an item with the upgrade template that is ending in % will take on an attack damage of 3% each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item upgrades's level. The cost increases as the level of the item increases.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into weapons, armor, and trinkets to provide a stat bonus or extra impact while they're being used. They can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors trading or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can only be used on devices that have slots. The item must be upgraded to blue before the component can be used. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used once and cannot be applied multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are type of upgrade component used to upgrade non-amulet legendary and ascending equipment, as other items that are not ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
A suffix or prefix can be added to an upgrade, thereby changing the name of the item it's used on (for instance, 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, which allows players to create stronger versions of that equipment using less Upgrade Crystals than would be required to reach the same level of upgrade using normal methods.
A 'boost' upgrade can change the attack or defense attributes of the weapon or armor. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist the upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. They can also be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear, or by purchasing them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals each.
Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a higher-tier version of an item will be available during the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue improving their equipment even if they're not sure of how much it will increase after a future reset.
The process of upgrading an item could be expensive and it's possible that the item will be obsolete, or even break, if the upgrade fails. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. Cash shop items can be used to reduce or eliminate the chance of failure. Certain upgrades also provide an additional bonus when reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets that are specifically designed for. Glyphs buff the effectiveness of all nodes in their radius and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in a variety of ways. We recommend upgrading them as fast as possible to level 15.
It is commonplace to see in the final game that placing Glyphs is the best way to upgrade your gear. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded directly to level 15, and they provide an enormous boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes faster.
Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, however Glyphs are the one upgrade component that can be removed and put back in place without restriction. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires an Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is of the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.
There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of the Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain unlimited-use gathering tools as well as through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt has the possibility of dropping one of the various Glyphs as well as also a few rare Glyphs that can be found in the form of drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
After you have acquired the desired Glyphs you will require them to be put on your gear. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that will boost the stats of a specific set of nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. It could be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats depending on the Glyph.
Glyphs will boost all nodes that are connected to them, so it is best to place Glyphs in the most important locations on the Graph. This will increase the impact. Druids, for instance, should place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might also consider placing them near their primary damage nodes.
Leveling
The upgrade system of items allows players to increase the power of certain items by inserting upgraded components. This is known as ”upping”. Each upgradeable item has a level that determines its upgraded stats. Upgraded items are able to be leveled up to a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each level of item requires different components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.
Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab in the crafting table. Each Upgrade Recipe completed will result in a certain amount of Technology points. These points can be used to upgrade the item, and when enough points are earned, the upgrade can be claimed and any additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When the player upgrades an item it is replaced with a new item upgrader kit - she said, of the same type. The same armor will receive the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also has its own bonus. This can be a downside in that the item could increase in price even if you don't need it.
Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, provided that the player has enough reroll tokens in order to do this. This will cause the item to be exchanged for a new one, with an initial level and a different set of bonus bonuses. This can be useful, but should not be repeated often since it can be a waste of resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled multiple times, increasing their value and allows the player to modify their equipment. A good example of this is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player repeatedly enters and exits water (or does not swim as a dolphin). It can be upgraded multiple times, each time raising the max roll by an increment of 10. This item is very valuable in PvP. A well-rolled version can be worth as much as 50x the value of a unupgraded counterpart.
Requirements
The upgrade of items allows players to increase the quality of their equippable equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets above ilvl 385–by providing the appropriate items and currency to an NPC that upgrades items. Upgrades to armor set pieces increase its base defense and upgrades to weapon items increase their base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity.
Each item can be upgraded up to five times except for hero equipment, which can be upgraded eight times. Each when you upgrade an item it is given an opportunity to fail. The failure rate increases the more you go over the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures will cause the item to return to its original state which means that the player has to spend additional resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.
If an item isn't upgraded the experience bar on its growth bar will be reset to zero. Additionally, the item will lose any bonus it earned such as crit chance, attack damage, as well as any additional effects associated with the effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or reload speed). The player will be able to use their weapon or armor after the failure.
When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it receives a crit chance boost that it will be applied before any damage to attack increases. Slots is a brand new attribute that was added to the definitions of items. The value is recalculated every time an upgrade occurs.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating and number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equal to the value of the base item. For example an item that is commonplace could have five upgrades at a cost of. 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero quality items are less expensive per upgrade.
Premium items have different upgrade requirements than standard gear–for instance, they might require fewer sowels, but they will require more minerals and erons. However, players must visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade. In addition to the upgrade cost mentioned above, each upgrade will require a different amount of the ingredients needed to upgrade.
