WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the item upgrading level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader kit upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.
The upgrader can be found in every major city, and is accessible anytime to upgrade your gear. It is recommended to visit the upgrader once every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.
Upgrades will cost more, based on the item level, however, they are always cheaper than purchasing new gear. For instance upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from a different player will cost 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapon, armor, tool and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players from NPCs of item upgraders for various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor with the help of button, which will display a preview of the item at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.
The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot for the item upgrader mod Level upgrade - Xs.Xylvip.com, and the current item level. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Upgraders for items are available in a variety of locations including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases with the number of items being upgraded. It can also be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to help with upgrades require a variety of means, which is both an improvement and a drawback.
In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. After a player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level, will cost less. This applies regardless of whether the items come from a different set of gear.
The discount is available to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain achievement milestones.
Crests
Players have a variety of options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.
First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for gear with a certain rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The most basic and straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the more complex one may require as many as 20 crests depending on the kind of gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons of any difficulty for higher-tier items, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses or dungeons for gear that is used in the endgame. These crests can be exchanged with an item upgrader like Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.
The new currency system isn't complicated to use, however it will bring some changes to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

It is best to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrade gear you can find, and save Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is particularly applicable to items like trinkets and rings that take up several slots. The discount for the entire account is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
