Doors that are internal and external require different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is vital. It is based on the type of use your doors and handles receive. External doors, for example should be equipped with cylinders that are more secure and doors inside can be secured using an ordinary cylinder. Certain cylinders are equipped with additional features that increase security, for instance, anti drill or anti bump properties.

A euro cylinder should be measured correctly to ensure it's the correct size for your door. The cylinder must be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. There are also cylinders that have been designed to resist snapping. This is an increasingly common type of attack on cylinders where the break line in the lock is smashed by a tool that is specially designed to snap off the front of the cylinder to allow the door to be opened. This is a faster and simpler method to gain access than the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves no evidence of the break-in which could make it difficult to prove insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette sits within the base of your door handle backplate, providing a spring solution to return your multipoint lock handles to their rest position after usage. There was a time when these types of handle did not have a spring integrated into them, and without it they are more likely to slide or drop once the locking mechanism has been disengaged. This component is the best way to address this issue. It also prevents your door from becoming stuck in either the open or closed position since they are difficult to close manually.

These spring cassettes are specifically designed for use with multipoint locks that are sprung but they won't work with non-sprung multipoint handles. You will need to have a hole specifically cut in your backplate to allow these to fit (please see image for technical diagram). They are a replacement for broken or missing cassettes in the door handle backplate of numerous kinds of uPVC doors. They are supplied in one unit.
