Choosing a Double Pushchair Twin

If you have twins you'll require a double pushchair to get them from A to B. Our selection includes a variety of twin prams as well as double buggies in various configurations to suit your family requirements.

Look for a stroller that can fold in one step, and easily put into your boot. You might also want an ultra-light design that is easy to maneuver and navigate especially when you have busy roads to navigate.

Side-by-Side

They are the most commonly used type of double pushchair car seat, and can typically seat 2 children in a row. They tend to be bigger than single pushchairs. This makes them less able to maneuver on paths. It can also be difficult to navigate through kerbs with a car seat is attached. The extra width makes them easier to maneuver through doorways and also more evenly distributed so that it is easier to carry around on your back.

Many models can be used from birth as twin prams and take a carrycot, or two car seats. Some models can be converted to a single mode, with a basket beside (like the Cybex Venus).

One of the most excellent examples of this is the Bugaboo Donkey 5 which, in Twin Mode, allows you to place the rear seat and carrycot side by side. This creates a fully enclosed space for twins, and is perfect for babies. This pram comes with some really cool accessories, like the newborn cocoons that can be attached either facing forwards or in any direction (for twin-facing prams). It's not as light as some other options but it's incredibly well created.

Lightweight

Cybex is renowned for its nifty pushchairs and the single-to-double isn't an exception. Its innovative frame expands widthways to take two seats and you can use it as a twin from birth, thanks to the addition of two newborn cocoons (PS59 each) that provide enclosed, lie-flat areas for infants. It can also be used as a mono mode with one child, thanks to a large shopping basket that is placed behind the seat. And it has a rear and front suspension to tackle bumps and uneven surfaces more easily. Our reviewers chose this car as their top pick.

Available in a variety of elegant colors.

Tandem

If you are planning to have twins you will require a pushchair with car seat that is tandem. This allows both children to sit together and interact with each other. They are perfect for visiting the zoo since the kids can look at the animals together. They're also ideal for parents who have to keep an eye on their toddler and the other on their baby, as they can see both at the same time.

Some tandem pushchairs provide ultra versatility as they can change back to single mode. This is particularly useful if you're planning to have more than two kids (or just your eldest does not require a buggy anymore). This will save you from having to store a buggy empty, which can be expensive.

The Cybex Venus, for example can be used in mono or double mode. Its frame can expand to accommodate an additional seat. This isn't the lightest of pushchairs, but it does come with an enormous shopping basket that sits behind the front seat in double mode (and in the back of the seat when it's mono mode). The seats can be set to face each other or one can be set higher up so it can look over the other and observe what they're doing.

Other double tandem pushchairs, like the Joolz Geo 3 in 1 pram, are able to seat one above the other or side by side. The sleek, compact frame makes it easier to navigate through doorways and aisles of supermarkets. Certain models can be used on rough terrain or as a jogging walk thanks to their large rear wheels and four-wheel suspension.

Another advantage of a tandem pushchair is that it will often use two carrycots or a car seat, and buggy seat. You can save money by establishing an entire best travel pram system from the beginning and not making separate purchases. Keep in mind that tandems are more heavy and longer and may feel less stable when bumping up kerbs or navigating uneven surfaces. These pushchairs also need to be dismantled in order to fit into cars.(Image: https://cdn.freshstore.cloud/offer/images/7007/35/hauck-travel-n-care-stroller-olive-gold-winner-mother-baby-awards-2024-lightweight-pushchair-only-6-8kg-suspension-compact-foldable-with-raincover-35.jpg)
