WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boosts in certain stats. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

The more modernized gear generally has a higher trade value regardless of whether it has low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in every major city, and is accessible at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader once every few weeks, to keep your equipment up to date.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item, however, they are always cheaper than purchasing new gear. For instance upgrading a chest piece from Benthic to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, purchasing a similar piece from another player will costs 105.

Upgrades are items which can be used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners for various currencies. They are also available on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be applied to any weapon, tool or armor. button, which will display an image of the item level upgrade at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

For example weapons are more expensive than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lesser amount of both currency types.

Many locations have upgraders for their items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount and a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded. It can also be increased by requiring players to complete specific achievements or complete quests.

In contrast to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no item upgrader kit upgrader available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety means. This is both a positive and a drawback.

In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade system. Once the player has upgraded to a certain level of item for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This applies even if the items come from an entirely different set of equipment.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

Players have several options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only able to be spent on gear of a specific rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for its upgrade path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complicated may require as many as 20 crests based on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.

Utilizing these new currencies isn't too complicated, but the system does introduce some modifications to the upgrade process. For instance, when an item is at the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic) it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level on all of their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another significant change is that crests have one purpose, so it's important to use them properly. For instance it's a good idea make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrader equipment you have and keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to create. This is especially relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to take advantage of the discount for all accounts when all slots are filled with top-quality gear.
